As a very common skin issue, scars can be located on any area of the face and body. For some people, a scar is an unwanted reminder of an old wound or some other condition that caused a disruption to the skin’s surface. While some scars aren't an issue, some scars are unsightly and unappealing. They can be too wide or too big, dark, bumpy, raised, or recessed. what can i expect from scar revision?
Depending on the circumstances of the case, Dr. Kang may use a local anesthetic or a topical numbing cream. Individual treatments or a combination of the following treatments may be used to revise scars, including acne scars, at Prestige Cosmetic Dermatology:
Chemical reconstruction of skin scars (CROSS): Trichloroacetic acid or a phenol peel is used to elevate atrophic scars, like acne or chickenpox scars, or depressed scars. It usually takes 4 – 6 sessions until optimal results are achieved.
Intralesional steroid or fluorouracil injection: An intralesional steroid is a corticosteroid effective in treating keloid or raised scars. Fluorouracil injections promote degradation of hypertrophic scars and keloids and can be used in combination with a steroid.
Ablative laser (UltraPulse® CO2): This form of laser resurfacing is a powerful method to improve extensively sun damaged skin, pigmentation, scarring, and deep wrinkles. The procedure may involve a topical application of numbing, local anesthetic injection, or even light sedation to ease any discomfort.
Cold ablative laser (UltraClear®): The first cold fiber laser ablates the skin at precise depths without unwanted thermal damage. This versatile laser is safe for all skin types and can be used for light resurfacing to very deep scars and wrinkles.
Non-ablative fractionated laser (Fraxel®): This laser technology targets a fraction of the skin, leaving the surrounding skin untouched, to deliver a safe and effective treatment to reduce the appearance of skin texture, wrinkles, pigmentation and scars.
Subcision: Not suitable for all scars, subcision involves inserting a hypodermic needle into the skin directly beneath the scar to loosen and break the tissue underneath the scar. This procedure lifts the scar and triggers collagen production to diminish the appearance of scars.
Surgical excision: Scar tissue is surgically excised or cut out and then closed with special cosmetic techniques to produce a less visible scar.

I really didn't know what to expect? I had some issues with my nose a few bumps, and some scars. I found Dr. Kang through an Internet search. When I showed up to her office for my appointment. I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist. She led me to a room where I waited for Dr. Kang. The doctor is super super nice. She went over my options and my concerns and was very attentive of my needs. She was able to do a laser treatment the same day and I am curious to see the results but as far as her knowledge and ability and her staff's friendliness, I would recommend giving them a try for any of your dermatology needs.
Dr. Kang and her entire team were excellent. I always felt like I was in great hands and receiving expert recommendations. The entire team took the time to answer all of my questions. I underwent treatment for acne scars and the instructions for prep and aftercare were very clear and easy to follow. My name is Timothy. I went to Dr. Kang in the Sacramento location “Laser & Skin Surgery Center” for 2 years. She helped me regain my confidence as a guy with scars and redness. Having done over 3 V-beam treatments, 2 CO2 lasers, and mole removals with her, I wrote this review to let others know her expertise will stay wherever she goes. I hate to admit it, there is no one better than her with doing lasers and cosmetic treatment for face. I will hopefully see her again if I am in the area.
